Morocco Wedding in the Atlas Mountains

In May I had the chance to be the photographer for a Morocco Wedding in the Atlas Mountains.

Natalie and Olivier are a Belgian couple, who knew for a long time they wanted to get married abroad. They looked at venues in Italy, France and Spain, but never exactly found what they were looking for. Until they discussed their plans with a friend, who recently visited this hidden gem in Morocco, in the Ourika Valley. Kasbah Bab Ourika, the hotel, is one of the most eco-friendly buildings in Morocco. It’s constructed principally from rammed earth, the traditional Berber technique, and blends easily with the rock and earth around it.  I totally understood Natalie & Olivier’s choice to host their wedding at this magical place. It’s built on a hill, surrounded by Berber villages with magnificent sights on the Atlas Mountains and the hotel consists of different buildings, in between beautiful gardens with fountains, cosy corners and palm trees. They even have 2 donkeys and their own biological veggie garden.

Still wonder why I’m so over the moon that I could shoot this Morocco Wedding?

It were the perfect 3 days. On Saturday all of their closest friends and family were welcomed in the Kasbah with drinks and barbecue. Sunday was wedding day. While the bride, Natalie, and her bridesmaids were getting ready in the villa, the other guests could participate in a yoga session and could get their hands and/or feet Henna painted. The weather that day was a bit doubtful… Plan B for the ceremony was already put into place, just in case the clouds wouldn’t decide to disappear, but in the end, luckily, we could execute plan A: the ceremony in the garden with a magnificent view over the valley, Natalie’s biggest wish became reality!

The rest of the weekend was just JOY. Great happy people, hilarious speeches, the best Moroccan food, a great party, and a fun after-wedding day with a hike in the valley, some pool time and an after wedding shoot with the most breathtaking orange-skies-sunset-shoot I could ever wish for. (I’ll share these pictures in another post!
