3 weeks ago I shot a real Engagement Shoot in Iceland. Danaï and Nicolas, a Belgian couple, who booked me for their wedding in August, were crazy enough to meet up with me Iceland. When I arrived on Sunday 16th, they already had a week of traveling behind them. They were a bit tired, I was super fresh and luckily I could show them a part of Iceland they didn’t visit yet.
After my 3.30PM arrival in the airport, I picked them up in Keflavik city, quickly bought my first 2 hotdogs of my holiday (many more would follow…), and off we went. I was so glad I visited the Reykjanes Peninsula, the area around Keflavik, last year already. I had a beautiful route in my mind which we could do in a late afternoon of shooting time. We drove to the beautiful lake Kleifarvatn, and passed by a small geothermal area with barely any people around. Afterwards, we drove a bit south, to continue our journey along kilometers of lava fields, to Reykjanesviti, where a geothermal area meets the sea, with magnificent cliffs full of birdlife! This place will always have a special place in my heart. I was there twice last year, and it turned out I was there twice this year as well.
And damn, were we lucky with the weather! Cause the day after, my travel partner Niccola and I would wake up in a snowstormy kind of day which we would remember for a long time. (This story will be shared later, when I publish the blogpost about our road trip).
So yes. Blue sky, mild breeze, soft sunset. Perrrrrfect!
Danaï and Nicolas enjoyed our little getaway, we could tell. And I was glad they were crazy enough to join me on this little trip. Cause every photoshoot is part of another adventure!
