Noemi and Lodewick are this once in a season kind of couple. They were one of the first couples who got me booked for 2016. It started with this first email, me reading they would get married in boho style in my favorite Belgian venue, and that they would have an outside ceremony and that they wanted to step away from the all the classical shizzle. Is this realllll? (Not to mention I facebooked them and they looked totally stunning… )
It sounded as music in my ears. After a dozen emails they booked me, and I was happy as a child. Only to realize afterwards that they emailed 15 photographers, and I was the one they chose. #happydance
I just knew this day was going to be beyond perfect, and I was looking forward to this first weekend of September for a long, long time. Noemi and I emailed regularly, and her natural enthusiasm and kindness made me feel so welcomed already long before the day.
The day was a mixed Dutch – Belgian wedding, with guests from all over the world. They both studied in NY, which turned out as the big theme of the day, and both have a lot of family abroad. All the girls and women of the suite already spent the night before at the Landgoed. Noemi was standing at the porch, and saw everything was going to fall into place. The stress slowly left her body when she saw Lodewick and his men crew arrive in a vintage Citroën. Before the guests arrived, we went for a short photoshoot in the gardens of the venue, and Noemi came back with more than a dozen of branches in her dress, sticking to the tule fabric as glue…
In the afternoon the outside ceremony under the strong sun told the story of the two. They got to know each other while studying. Both of them went to NY, but not always during the same time, so they had to miss each other quite some time. Lieke of Stories by Mabel did her magic, as usual, telling stories about 2 people who fall in love and want to spend the rest of their lives together.
The reception was more like a cocktail party. Thirst set up a bar, where guests could go and get 2 different cocktails: the favorite of the bride or… yes the one of the groom.
I don’t know which ingredient of this place makes me always so happy. It probably is the combination of the beautiful hills, the animals and the farm, the beautifully styled rooms, and the fact that couples have so much flexibility in this venue. Being there makes me so relaxed and focused at the same time. This place feels like a destination wedding in Belgium to me. Haha. So after this, I don’t have to mention the dinner in a tent, next to the cattle stables and the fields, with a show cooking BBQ, was just perfect! The last highlight of the evening, before dinner was served, was the fact that Noemi didn’t want to toss her bouquet, but instead she gave it to the oldest married woman… her beautiful grandmother… Let the pictures speak for themselves…
Also, the vendors who were all wedding professionals, made the day as perfect as it was. And the weather? Just what we wished for!
